Managing Priorities and Relationships as a Senior Leader at Novotech As Senior Project Director at Novotech, I have the privilege of managing various responsibilities that keep me engaged and challenged every day. One of my primary duties involves overseeing resourcing and staffing needs for the Asia Pacific region. This requires carefully reviewing each project manager and director request, then leveraging my in-depth knowledge of our team to quickly identify the ideal candidate based on skills fit and availability. I get to know everyone exceptionally well, which allows me to fill open positions seamlessly and ensure we can be competitive in bidding for new projects. Retention is a vital ongoing focus area for me. Workloads inevitably fluctuate, so I continually monitor capacity versus demand and smooth out peaks and valleys to prevent burnout. I aim to be the voice of our project management team - listening to any concerns, assessing the broader implications, and acting as their advocate. For example, we recently pinpointed some inefficient processes between certain teams. I facilitated open discussions to understand the pain points deeply. We're now working to streamline communication and workflow in impacted areas. With employee health and well-being top of mind these days, I make it a priority to lead by example when it comes to maintaining work-life balance and modelling self-care.
Meet Danielle Wilson, MBA, our recruiting superstar based in the USA. Danielle brings a passion for connecting people to purpose as our Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist. Enter Danielle: "I was an HR Manager before getting into recruitment. I found that I most enjoyed the recruiting aspect of my role as a Manager. I took a break for a few years when I had my first son and pursued other interests. A few years ago, I moved from NJ to Charleston, and I decided I wanted to get back to work. This time I was more purposeful in my search, focusing only on recruiting roles. I found a job as a Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist with a life sciences agency recruitment firm. One day, I received a call from Shivani Desai about a TA position here with Novotech. I followed my gut and decided to see what Novotech had to offer. Next thing I know, I was interviewing for the role, and after the call with Felicity N. and Aoife McDonnell (Bergin), I knew Novotech is where I wanted to be. I’ve always felt that the best way to know and learn about an organization is through recruitment. I have the opportunity to build relationships throughout the entire organization and support my colleagues in the best way I know how, and that is by providing them with the best talent. Being in the agency was fun and high energy, but I was never able to continue those relationships with candidates or watch them progress in the company once they were placed."
Finding Purpose Through Clinical Research: Cara's Story My Long and Winding Path to Clinical Research In retrospect, I wasn't one of those who knew exactly what I wanted to do from an early age. After originally pursuing a degree in nursing, I switched gears and found my calling for psychological science, earning bachelor's degrees in both psychology and mathematics/social sciences. After college, I spent two years working in the social services industry in which I worked as a homeless shelter director for a women and children’s center and later as a shift supervisor for a halfway house with aim of rehabilitating incarcerated prisoners to be ready for everyday society. I was hopeful this industry would be what I would pursue long-term. However, I struggled with the stress and emotional weight the work placed on my mental and emotional well-being. Read more . . .
