Our RACQ Foundation team travelled to Gympie during #NationalVolunteerWeek to complete restoration and resilience projects for 18 community organisations impacted by natural disaster. One of these initiatives involved planting 3,000 trees at The Sands Park in collaboration with the Australian Resilience Corps, supported by the Gympie Regional Council and the Gympie & District Landcare Group. General Manager Advocacy Joshua Cooney said, “Restoring community hubs after a natural disaster is important for the livelihoods of locals, but building them back stronger, to ensure they can withstand future natural disasters, was our special mission." We’re proud to have supported the region and would like to extend a big thank you to all the hard-working volunteers that made this possible.
RACQ is making that dream a reality for its employees with a new EV Test Drive Day series launching this weekend. Our Toowoomba Mobile Bank Lenders Sarah and Tiffany know first-hand the challenges of juggling a thriving career with a family. Sarah, who’s recently returned from maternity leave said, “The flexibility of my role means I can attend school and day-care activities, and I absolutely adore sharing those moments with my children. The days I get to see an extra smile and chat a little longer with them are what makes having a high intensity career worth it!” For Tiffany, showing her three girls that you can be career-driven and a great mum is empowering: “I can organise my calendar based on the needs of our members, and my family. It’s not always smooth sailing and it can be a juggling act, but the fact I can help our members into their dream home while working from almost anywhere, whether that be at their home, in a branch or even my local café - makes a huge difference. Happy Mother’s Day to all our hard-working mums who deliver the very best for our members each and every day. #PeopleOfRACQ
RACQ employees are starting the new year with a suite of new and enhanced entitlements designed to provide greater flexibility and support. From 1 January 2023, all part-time and full-time employees can now access new flexible leave options to celebrate cultural or religious days of significance, an increase in paid parental leave and compassionate leave, a dedicated wellbeing day after two years’ service, and leave to support gender transition. Chief Purpose Officer MJ Bellotti said these changes support the Club’s diversity and inclusion strategy. “RACQ is proud to have a diverse workforce, and these changes will go a long way in giving our people more choice and flexibility,” she said. “We want our people to feel confident to be themselves at work, and that includes celebrating the days that are culturally important to them. “We also acknowledge there will be occasions when our people might need to take additional time away from work for circumstances outside of their control, and we want to ensure they feel supported to do this.” Ms Bellotti said.
RACQ committed to reconciliation RACQ has continued its commitment to strengthening relationships with First Nations people with the launch of the second phase of its Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). The Innovate RAP builds on the Club’s Reflect RAP that was released in 2020. It provides RACQ with a blueprint to make further meaningful contributions to reconciliation in Queensland and drive the inclusion of First Nations people over the next two years. The launch at RACQ’s head office in Eight Miles Plains opened with an official smoking and didgeridoo ceremony and was attended by Councillor for the ward of McGregor Cr Steven Huang, General Manager of ARTIE Steven Page, Aunty Robyn Williams and Aunty Flo Watson, as well as more than 200 RACQ employees. Officially launching the Club’s Innovate RAP, Group CEO David Carter said the occasion was an important milestone in RACQ’s reconciliation journey.
Our commitment to reconciliation In 2020, RACQ formally set out its commitments to reconciliation in its first Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). In October 2022, RACQ successfully implemented its Innovate RAP. RACQ’s Innovate RAP details our reconciliation journey and includes our commitment to reconciliation by outlining the actions we plan to take over the next two years and beyond. The Innovate RAP highlights three key areas of action: • Building cultural awareness and knowledge for RACQ employees • Building relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisations • Assessing future opportunities, particularly in terms of employment and procurement This Innovate RAP runs until October 2024.
