Sartorius acquired cell culture specialist Xell AG headquartered in Bielefeld, Germany. Xell AG develops, produces, and markets media and feed supplements for cell cultures, especially for manufacturing viral vectors that are used in gene therapeutics and vaccines. It has so far been privately owned and employs around 35 people.
Sartorius has continued on its fast growth trajectory, closing the first half of 2021 with significant double-digit increases in both sales revenue and order intake.

Sartorius announces today that it expects strong first half performance and raises its forecast for the full year of 2021. For the first six months ended June 30, the company expects revenue growth to be approximately 60% in constant currencies with an underlying EBITDA margin slightly above 34.0%.
Sartorius has acquired a majority stake in the reagent manufacturer CellGenix GmbH. The company based in Freiburg, Germany, with around 70 employees produces and markets cell culture components, such as growth factors, cytokines, and media. Sartorius plans to expand the Freiburg site substantially and to establish it as a center of excellence within the group in the areas of development and manufacture of quality critical raw materials for the cell and gene therapy market.
