Last Thursday, we held the Hoong Leong Memorial Poker Tournament to honour the legacy of our dear friend and colleague, Hoong Leong who was instrumental in the set up of Global Poker. It was great to see so many newbies and veterans participating in the tournament, and being cheered on by their teammates in an atmosphere filled with joy, laughter and camaraderie to commemorate Hoong. A big congratulations to the winner, Fred Liva from the creative team in Sydney on taking home the Hoong Leong Memorial trophy after a two-hour long tournament against 101 other players. Thank you to everyone who participated, regardless of whether or not they knew Hoong personally to celebrate his life and the great contribution he made to VGW.

As part of our Skillshares series, we had Esther from Frankie Loves Barkery at our Perth office for a hands-on workshop on how to make healthy homemade dog treats for our furry friends. It was great to see people participating both in-person and online, with at-home participants having received the workshop ingredient list in advance so they could follow along. As the last Skillshare of the year, it was great to end on such a fun, light note.
Eli Ferrall, our VP of Product - Global Poker, presented ‘You Better Shape Up’ at Web Directions Summit 2022, where he discussed the delivery methodology behind Global Poker. As part of the “Shape Up” style of working, he shared how delivering work in six-week cycles helps teams perform, because it is “long enough to finish something meaningful, but still short enough to see the end from the beginning.”
