      Pros

Company level - Welfare / benefits are good Department level - leave much to be desired

      Cons

Rotational weekend shift, ever changing work time arrangement. Unclear/Inconsistent instructions from direct managers. Managers behave like highly paid admin, know little about the real work itself, always giving patronising responses. Lack foresight and vision, make decisions without considering consequences. Providing feedback only results in more layers of micromanagement.

      Technician
      Former employee

      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

      1. The pay is good for the position. Salary increments of 3-5% can be expected every year according to your performance. 2. The Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP) is great. You can contribute upto 10% of your monthly pay onto the ESPP. It is discounted for the employees. Likewise, the Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) are also great. Every year your RSUs vest overtime and awarded to you at your performance review. The dividends you get from holding stocks is also great. 3. The diverse culture is great. Apple specifically hires enthusiastic people. 4. You can personally grow a lot. There are brainstorming sessions everyday to perform better at work. 5. For new parents, upto 1.5 months of paternity leave and 4 months of maternity leave can be availed. With additional return-to-work benefits for new parents as well.

      Cons

      1. Salary increment of 3-5% is not enough considering how high-velocity an Apple Store can get. If you achieve expectation, you get around 3% salary hike. But if you exceed expectations, it's only 4-5%. Which means, the difference in pay increase is a mere 1-2% but the work load you had to do to go from achieved expectation to exceeded expectation is 10x. The pay increase doesn't justify the work. 2. Do not expect to have work/life balance if you're working at any Apple Stores. The shift is 9 hours which includes one hour break. 5 days a week. Due to high velocity in the evenings, most of the employees will be required to work afternoon to evening which takes up your entire day. 3. They have this credo which I found very toxic positive. Employees are brainwashed to live and work by the credo which includes phrases like "Good enough Isn't" , "To do the best work of our lives", "To do it all over again tomorrow". Phrases like these are hammered since the induction training and blinds you from your overall purpose in life. 4. The punishment overwhelms the disciplinary committed. You are given warning letters that'll stay in your profile for 3 months to a year for things out of your control like taking emergency leaves or if you genuinely fall sick often. The warning letters will then prevent you from applying to any higher positions. 5. While you can grow as a person, you will find it difficult to climb the ladder within the company. There are no auto-promotions based on performance. The one who sells themselves with a good story in the interview gets the job regardless their performance is good or not. If you are an extremely well performing individual but get nervous at an interview, you WILL NOT get the role. Likewise if you are someone who "pretends" to work but doesn't give the genuine work, but is a storyteller in the interview, you get the higher job. This is a very flawed system in their internal growth process. 6. Taking up extra projects will only garner you a pat on the back and a verbal "good job". There are no bonuses or monetary benefits for it.
