Pros
- Golden standard for knowledge transfer, the internal wiki is excellent
- A lot of managers were knowledgeable and efficient ex-Blackberry people
- Modern technology and concepts.
- Potentially provides some wiggle room for innovative approaches to development (depends on the project/manager).
- Comfortable environment, lots of cubical space, multiple desks and free parking.
- The free hot chocolate was top notch.
Cons
- Company is run by marketing people, not by engineers. All problems listed below stem from this.
- In places needlessly overcomplicated development pipeline, that makes it easier for a few people, but makes things harder for the common developer.
- Limited product range, susceptible to market fluctuations. Economy slows down = people don't but overpriced trucks = thousands lose their jobs.
- Too many lay-offs in Canada with preference to hire foreigners to cut costs.
