What is the hiring process like at Visa Inc.?

      Corporate politics and tribal behavior

      Senior data scientist

      Pros

Good brand to have, lots of data, lots of tools, above average TC. The work is not necessarily difficult.

      Cons

Too many managers, most of them without anyone reporting into them. There's also no clear guidelines on how teams are formed, a new manager with zero people managing experience somehow can hire 6 new external headcount, all of the same race and ethnicity. Promotions are all opportunistic, you basically camp the internal hiring job board everyday, and pitch yourself for the next higher role that you want. Meritocracy is a joke here, it's the typical work being rewarded with more work, your purpose is to help your manager get promoted. it's 80% relationships and sales talk here.

The recruiter communicated effectively throughout the process

      Cons

I recently went through the recruitment process for the role at Visa Poland, and I found the experience quite frustrating. The process began in May and extended until mid-October, which felt unnecessarily prolonged. At the outset, I was promised clarification regarding my application status by the end of August. However, instead of receiving any updates, I was invited to a final interview. To my surprise, this wasn’t the final round at all, as I discovered during the interview. The communication throughout the process was somewhat misleading. The previous round had been labeled as a final interview, which created expectations that were not met. I felt there was a lack of transparency in the recruitment process, which left me questioning the organization's commitment to clear communication. Additionally, I have concerns regarding the potential bias in the selection criteria. The requirement for proficiency in Polish, while languages from the countries covered by the role (Hungary, Romania, Moldova, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic) were not required, suggests a preference for Polish nationals. This further indicates that the process may not align with the international nature of the position. I suspect that local management, particularly Mr. Ireneusz Matczak, may have influenced these decisions, which adds to my concerns about the recruitment process's fairness and inclusivity.

      Cons

I don’t recommend tech unless you are Indian. Too much bias in hiring and promotions. Most of the hiring managers are Indian and primarily hire their own ppl. Lots of bureaucracy throughout the company. Limited job growth.

      Software engineer

      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

If you're a senior professional in the IT industry nearing retirement, this could be the perfect environment for you. With a focus on work-life balance and plenty of enjoyable activities, work takes a backseat. It's all about relaxation, socializing, and cultivating a good relationship with your manager through casual conversations.

      Cons

Based on my experience at the Singapore branch, I advise against considering this place for newcomers or mid-level professionals in the IT industry. Despite painting a rosy picture during the hiring process, they tend to exploit and discard employees once they've extracted what they need. Contract offers should be approached with caution, as the organization prioritizes the interests of its large Indian workforce, often at the expense of contractors. Many managers lack technical expertise and exhibit discriminatory behavior. During economic downturns, they ramp up contract hiring only to lay off contractors when conditions worsen, safeguarding permanent staff positions.

      Pros

      Cons

The accounting team overall has a very poor culture. The onboarding process was extremely weak, with absolutely no resources provided. The team member assigned to train me was extremely rude, which made it difficult to ask questions without feeling judged. The onboarding videos were years old, and most of the content was no longer relevant due to changes in systems. The expectation was to immediately jump into work with no prior knowledge, while dealing with an angry manager who would yell and provide no support. I would definitely think twice before joining this team.
