      Graduate Technology Consultant Interview

      6 Apr 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Avanade (London, England) in Mar 2018

      Interview

I applied quite a while back and got through to the March intake assessment centre, though I was actually applying to the September intake. I had to go through the phone interview twice but both times went really well, very personable, just let them know who you are and talk about yourself in a way that lines up with the role (Enjoy change, love technology, happy to travel etc). The assessment centre was refreshingly different. The group exercise split us up into three teams, who had to work collaboratively with the other teams and stick to a role within the assigned team. This is a chance to show you can work well with others, participate as an active engaging team member and not to show you can boss people around, that is never the case, collaborate over compete! The end part of the group exercise was fun, to see if our lego tower would connect... it fell and smashed! but was good fun and no fault of any individual. The one on one interview was next for me, but there is time slots. I went in very prepared, had company information, examples of work, questions to ask them, experiences clear on a page to talk about and a more updated CV, this seem to bode well and I got very good feedback for this part of the day. This is also a good time to show or help determine which talent community (Which type of tech consultant) you would be. I was interested in software engineer and so I focused examples etc on this area of technology. The rest of the day I was free to leave or could stick around and test out some tech (which I recommend as it was a lot of fun). It took 2 weeks to hear back (due to easter holidays), I was told I made the final selection list but had no room to accommodate me in the talent community they aligned me to (I would assume this was software engineering but I could be wrong), they asked to keep my details incase something opens up between now and the start date, but I had already accepted a job offer elsewhere by the time they had gotten back to me. I really enjoyed the day, it was more fun than daunting, so kudos to the HR team and current graduates for be very welcoming. I was disappointed not to make the final cut, though I am happy with the job offer I had accepted, and hopefully in the future I may get another opportunity to join Avanade
