The interview was for an position supporting an agency in MD/VA area. I interviewed over zoom with a team member and the team lead. It didn't feel like a typical interview where you discuss your experience. It was mainly CISSP/Sec+ test questions. "Describe the steps of the RMF; What is the FIPS 199 publication? What are the layers of the OSI model?" That's when I had to interject, sorry, I didn't know I was studying for an oral CISSP exam. The real kicker was when the interviewer asked me to map controls to the family and number - as if I have hundreds of controls memorized. I work in a different industry where we have different POCs in the RMF, and one of the interviewers seemed incredulous that another agency could do things differently ("Well I've been here for years and I've never heard of that"). Didn't seem like they would be a good team to learn new tools and methods from. I doubt they will extend an offer since I probably failed my oral exam (haha), but I would not accept anyway. The salary range is much lower than my current salary but I was willing to negotiate that for remote work. I previously worked at BAE years ago when they bought out my small company. I left because the benefits were worse and I was treated like a number. After this disaster of an interview, they will permanently be on my NO list of companies to work for.
