      Teller Interview

      8 July 2011
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Bank of America in June 2011

      Interview

I applied for the Teller position in June through indeed.com. Two days later, a recruiter called and asked me couple of questions about my past experience (all in reference to the resume I submitted at the beginning of the job application). Then, she scheduled an appointment for a group interview near my home location. I went to the group interview a week later. It consisted of 12 other candidates applying for the same position. It was very interactive and fast. You set around a huge table with the recruiter in the center and she/he asks you about your availability and why you applied at BOA. As the group interview progresses, the recruiter will go over BOA's values and visions for both their employees and customers and he/she will tell you what they expect from their Tellers. Near the end of the group interview, the recruiter will pair people in groups of 2 to role play a transaction between a Teller and a customer. He/she will give you plenty of time to rehearse so don't panic and have fun. The recruiter called me the next day and gave me some feedback on my performance at the group interview (which i really appreciated) and told me she wanted to proceed to the next step in the hiring process. After the group interview, the next step consist of filling out a Pre-employment screening app. online. It is CRITICAL that you tell the truth by filling out gaps in employment and all of the employers you worked in last 5 years. If this application comes back UNSATISFACTORY, you will not be considered for the teller position. I did not hear from my recruiter for two weeks so i thought i made a mistake on my application but it turns out she was just very busy. She scheduled a 1:1 interview session with a branch manager for the next day. The 1:1 interview with the branch manager is nothing like the group interview. I suggest you make a cheat sheet of all the possible interview questions and review them before going in for the interview. The branch manager asked me hypothetical and behavioral questions (i.e. How would you handle an uncooperative angry customer?; Tell me about a time when you used analytical skills to solve a difficult situation?). He/she will ask you to sell them one of BOA's products or services such as online banking. If the branch manager takes more than 30 minutes to talk to you then take it as a sign that they are really really really considering you for the job. I interview on a Friday and heard back from my recruiter on Monday. My recruiter extended the job offer to me which i accepted. Once they extend a job offer to you, you have to pass a criminal background check and get fingerprinted. If everything comes back satisfactory, you will get a job offer via email. Good Luck!!

The interview was very straightforward and simple, they didn’t ask too many unusual questions and the questions they did ask were easy to answer. The total time was less than an hour, and I was able to make another appointment by the end of the workday.
