You send in your application and resume and are invited to take an online editing test. The test was perhaps 10 questions of sentences that needed to be corrected. When you pass that, you are invited to begin work, initially on very small assignments. The process seems decent enough at the start and if you are a decent editor/science person, it should be do-able.
