Staff Systems Design Engineer AST Team Interview

      8 Dec 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Charles Schwab in Dec 2017

      Interview

The process initiated with a recruiter reached out to me personally via email, which kicked off the process for the rest of the interviews. The phone interview process went ok with out a hitch along with the scheduled phone interview. The problems and the judgements started when the in person process initiated. To be honest I thought everything went well, but to my surprise I received a call a day later from the recruiter indicating that the feedback they received was that I was too “junior” for the role? Are you freaking kidding me? Too junior? I simply took that as a ridiculous cop out for them not wanting to move forward with me. To further engulf into detail I’ve managed teams of seven or more, which I illustrated in my interview, which to this day I cannot comprehend how that is considered too junior for a Staff level position. It was utterly ridiculous. Time was wasted driving there sitting there and attending the interview process. If I were considered too darn “junior” why did your organization “string” me along for three interviews for no legitimate reason. I found the whole process to me a complete waste of my time and not do require someone else’s input on how they think I’m “junior” for a role when I already have several IT certifications and my work ethic speaks for itself. One suggestion I do have for your team is don’t waste a candidates time if your hiring manager already has a predetermined judgement on them. Save me the gas and time and let me avoid the fiasco of the emotional roller coaster of the entire process. What irritated me the most was that the recruiter stated that the position was still he opened and further talent researching will be done for the position. If that were the case the why the heck did you even bother to communicate with me.
