      Transit Operator (Bus Driver) Interview

      Application

I interviewed at City of Edmonton (Edmonton, AB) in Apr 2026

      Interview

The hiring process was lengthy and inconsistent. I applied in late 2025 and didn’t reach the medical stage until April 2026. At the start, I provided my 5-year driver’s abstract, which included two infractions: a speeding ticket (2021) and a red light violation (2023). This was accepted, and I was allowed to continue through multiple interview stages and eventually complete the medical. Because I had progressed this far, I reasonably assumed my abstract met their requirements. I arranged travel from BC to Edmonton for the medical and paid out of pocket for a criminal record check. After successfully passing the medical and submitting all requested documents, I was told I would not be hired due to my driver’s abstract—the same document they had already reviewed earlier in the process. This decision should have been made upfront, not after significant time and personal expense. The lack of consistency and transparency in their screening process resulted in unnecessary cost and wasted time.
