I make direct contact with the director of the program and the one who posted the position posting, in addition to my online application. Online and on the phone, she seemed genuinely interested in pursuing an interview; however, arriving for the (unexpected) panel interview, I was surprised by the tone and direction of the questioning, as if some of the panelists did not even want to participate.
