Interview
In the early days of the company expanding its engineering teams in Australia, the hiring process was far from ideal. The initial rounds involved a recruiter from the US who simply read from a script. This was followed by a local representative who showed little interest in promoting the role or the company and was unable to answer even basic questions about remuneration.
After seemingly passing the first round, I was given a lengthy case study to complete. However, I found it difficult to see how this exercise added more value than having experienced engineering leaders assess candidates directly.
Following that, there was complete radio silence. Considering I was approached by the company directly, I expected at least some feedback or closure, but none was provided.
This experience left a poor impression. I wouldn’t consider working for this company, as I believe the interview process and how a company presents itself are critical indicators of the employee experience. They clearly have a long way to go in building a culture that can attract and retain top talent.
