The EE recruitment was a 3-tier interview process, where a different set of parties evaluated each tier or interview to determine my viability to the company. The first was with a Deliver Lead peer. This interview was truly amazing, in which the peer review not only gave me the opportunity to discuss my previous experiences but also conveyed or shared numerous factoids about the company as a whole, shared what EE stands for and, more importantly, what the company is not. This was extremely helpful, giving me the opportunity to see if the work culture in EE is a good fit for me.
For the second interview or tier, I was instructed to prepare a presentation to show what “Good Looks Like”. This was an extremely interesting experience, where I was allowed to “show” how to conduct myself in a specific scenario by answering all the pertinent questions: how, when, why, what, and who. With my prepared statements and presentation, I needed to apply my version of “good”, which can be applied in the workplace. There was no “third-degree” interrogation, but the interviewers had the grace and elegance to retrieve all their required information through a casual conversation and discussing the presentation in a very relaxed environment.
the last interview had a more technical flair, and in saying that, I do not mean a tech review, but rather, the technical team members or engineers had the opportunity to talk to me, a frontend and data engineer. Again, there were so many discussions going on, but at no time was I made to feel anything but welcome and safe, and although a million questions were raised, it was such a fun conversation. Again, I was afforded to get another perspective of what the company stands for and what the company will not give me.
Having such an open, frank and honest conversation is what I very seldom experienced in the past. It is genuinely refreshing to be given the opportunity to interview the company or organisation as well as to see if the two of you can work together. It was, in one word, Brilliant!
In closing, this was such a perfect fit and an easy transition for me. This interview process was executed smoothly; logistically, it was flawless, and operationally, it was a fantastic experience.
