      Financial Representative Interview

      29 Nov 2011
      Anonymous employee
      Salt Lake City, UT
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 8 months. I interviewed at Fidelity Investments (Salt Lake City, UT) in Nov 2011

      Interview

A month or two after I applied online, I was contacted by Fidelity through email. The email established a date and time I would be contacted via telephone by a representative from Fidelity. In the call (which I received around 2 months after my application submission), the representative told me the details of the job: employment specifics, salary, hiring dates etc. After she outlined the details of the work, she asked whether or not I was prepared for a phone interview. I agreed to take it. After giving me the behavioral-based interview, the interviewer reviewed the interview with me to tell me the places where my responses could be strengthened. After the interview she said she would stay in touch with me and let me know more details about a hiring date. Periodically throughout the next few months the Fidelity representative would contact me with updates on potential hiring dates. The periodic updates continued for four or five months without any date coming to fruition. Finally, I was contacted with an set hiring date and was given the details of when and where to for an in-person interview. On the day of the interview I arrived at the Fidelity office. There were 8-10 people in the interview group with me. We were greeted by a woman who took attendance, then escorted us upstairs to a conference room. In the conference room we were shown a slideshow detailing the company, salary and benefits. After, another representative met with us to discuss the work itself. Finally, a manager of the position we were applying for came to answer any questions we had. At the end of the presentation around 20 managers came in to the room. Each candidate was escorted out of by two of the managers. The two managers assigned to me gave me a short tour of the floor we were on and then took me to a small conference room. In the conference room I had a 2:1 interview. The questions were very similar to the questions I had received during my phone interview. After the interview, I was shown around a few of the floors by the managers, then I was taken to another conference room on the base level where I took a test. After that I was free to leave. About 3 days later I received a call from the first representative I had been in contact with over the months of the process who notified me that I had been hired.

      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Fidelity Investments (Boston, MA) in Nov 2025

      Interview

Brief 13 minute phone call (interviewer showed up late). Interview was very rushed and unprofessional, interviewer cut me off multiple times and did not give me an opportunity to ask him any questions. Keep in mind I was recommended to him by a branch manager. Very disappointed by this first interview round! Besides the interviews extreme haste, the interview went well. Use STAR method and you'll be ok.
