I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Fidelity Investments (Boston, MA) in Mar 2024
Interview
The interview process was thorough and consisted of 5 rounds.
The first round was a phone interview with one of the HR. The HR representative wanted to understand my resume, background, and previous work experiences to determine if they aligned with the team's needs at Fidelity.
In the second round, I was interviewed directly with the VP, who was hiring for his team. This was a scenario-based interview where he presented a specific storyline and asked me to find a solution and understand my thought process. This round was designed to assess my problem-solving skills and thought process in a given scenario.
The third round was a technical interview with a Senior Data Scientist, who would be my peer if I were hired. This round focused on machine learning, deep learning, and statistics. It was a verbal interview with approximately ten questions. I was asked follow up questions in most of the questions to explore the depth of my understanding of any technical concept.
Next was a live coding interview with a director on the team. This round included around 15–18 multiple-choice Python questions, two data structures and algorithms (DSA) questions, and a few SQL questions. The entire live coding session lasted about an hour.
The final round was with the head of HR. This round aimed to understand my motivations for wanting to join Fidelity and to assess how well I would fit into the company's culture and the team.

Question 1
Explainability and interpretability of ML algorithms.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Fidelity Investments in Oct 2023
Interview
Recruiter: The HR was good, made the whole process smooth, but could really benefit from better communication with candidates. Interview rounds: 4 (6 interviewers in total) Interview process: The first two rounds were good, first was technical, second was based on the resume. The third round was the worst experience anyone could have. The interviewer was EXTREMELY unprofessional, very rude, and condescending and asked about Statistics while I kept informing that I have not worked in Statistics and that I cannot answer the questions correctly without necessary subject knowledge. I somehow cleared that round (I still don't know how!) and moved to the final round. The final round was as weird as it could get -- I had to explain each design decision at least THREE times, and they would still not get it!
