I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Forever 21 (New York, NY) in July 2014
Interview
I gotta call to come in for an interview with the manager. When i arrived there i found it extremely weird that none of the workers knew the name of their own store manager. They kept telling me they didn't know who that was or that the person did not work here. Finally after 15 minutes of asking i finally found someone who knew who the manager was & decided to take me to her. The questions asked were very basic interview questions. I was expected to be asked more questions about the company itself so it threw me a bit off when they asked me such simple questions. After that they told me they would give me a call in two weeks.
I swore i did not get the job because two months went by till I was called to come back in. When I met with the manager again i was scolded on me not coming in to complete my new hire packet .. when i was never notified that i had gotten the job. I had received no calls, voice mails, or even a text telling me i was hire. Also i tend to go to that location a lot so they have obviously seen my face in those two weeks. I brushed it off though & decided to complete the package. When it came time to return it go over it with the HR manager .. the HR manager was no where to be found. I kept being told to come back the next day but he was still not there. I even called in the morning & called when i was a few minutes away to confirm he was "there" but when i arrived he magically disappeared. A few weeks went by & i started to hear other new hires were going through the same thing if not worse so i gave up. The $9 an hour isnt worth all this trouble.
It was an in-person interview. It was very easy, and a standard retail interview. lasted around 10 minutes. The manager asked some scenario questions but overall, the questions were pretty straightforward.
It was a casual group interview. I sat down with a manager and another girl who was applying. They just asked a few standard questions about us and our experience.
Interviewer did not seem very experienced. He was rushing the interview and only asked general questions such as where do you see yourself in 10 years… for an entry level job.
