Interview
I saw the position for ASM of merchandising on GlassDoor. I have the app. I applied on the app with my information and my resume which I had in one of my emails. It was quick basic info, contact info. This was a Friday the 3rd. On Monday afternoon I got a call from from the store manager asking when would be a good time for me to come in for an interview. She said her DM sent her my resume and information. I scheduled an interview for the next day. I went in, an associate called her up to get me and we went to her office. It was really casual, she started from the bottom so she said she understood how awkward interviews could be. She asked about my current job and what I did. I was a lead merch at a Macys for almost 10 years and I'm going to school for fashion studies & merchandising. I asked her a lot of questions about the job duties, how often merchandisers left the company and what happened to the person who previously had this job. She was very open and friendly. I love merchandising and she said I would be doing a lot of planning and directing a team. She showed me some guides on her comp of things I would have to execute like promotions, seasonal statements, ect. I told her I do that everyday at Macy's. So she really liked that I wouldn't need the basic training. We went on about hours and she showed me around a bit. She said she was gonna further the process and I was gonna have a FaceTime chat with the DM. Couple days later, I get the call and she said the fact that I'm getting interviewed by her that it's a good sign. She asked me what I would do with an employee that wasn't meeting expectations. "Send them home!" Haha. Asked what compensation I expected and that's it. She said she looked forward to working with me. They sent the official application via email and then about a week later they sent me an offer letter. I excepted, put in my notice at Macy's, then they did the background check. This took the whole 2 weeks and I was nervous and waiting, it was always hard to get information because it was out of the store managers hands. Corporate and paper work takes forever and it's not the stores fault. So be patient. It took a month.
