      Marketing Interview

      11 July 2011
      Anonymous interview candidate
      South San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Genentech (South San Francisco, CA) in July 2011

      Interview

Thorough phone interview by highly competent manager. Result is follow-up interview with extended team on site. I was impressed at how much they invest in the hiring process. They seem to believe that hiring decisions are the most important decisions at the company. I'm looking foward to the on site interviews.

      Question 1

Since you have management experience, how do you feel about taking a role as an individual contributor?

      Marketing Interview

      29 Apr 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Genentech

      Interview

Applied via website, reached out proactively to hiring manager via Linkedin to learn more about the role and got a meeting. It was a very strange conversation with the manager repeating same words, but giving no context about the role. The person seemed very rude and thought that me reaching out was unprofessional and seemed to think I was better suited for an entry level role, despite having 7 years of experience. I understand it's a big company, but it seems highly offensive to berate the candidate and tell them their enthusiasm is incorrect, especially in the current job market.
