Informal, though they may do it differently each time. I had a 3-panel interview and was immediately notified within a couple of days that they wanted to move forward. As long as you are open to learning and can get along with the interviewers, you should be ok.

Question 1
How would you handle conflict with another co-worker?
I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Genentech in Aug 2014
Interview
I got a phone call from a recruiter about the position. Interviewed with her, and then set up a phone interview. After the phone interview, was asked to come into the facility and do an in person interview. Each last 30 min. The in person interview was with 4 people at a single time, panel style. I was very nervous but answered everything the best I could. When I didn't know something, I was honest that I didn't know.

Question 1
Nothing outside of regular interview questions involving my behavior and past experience, and what I know about certain details about the position.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Genentech (Vacaville, CA)
Interview
The interviews were able to be conducted virtually which was convenient. The questions were standard apart from the one wildcard question that was asked each time. That was a fun addition of their interviews which always kept me on my toes.

Interviewer was rude and stand-offish, almost mocking. Felt like working there would be a very stressful environment just due to management. Explained towards the end of the interview that it could take months before being offered a job due to their hiring process.
