I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Google (Milan) in Feb 2022
Interview
the process consists of a cognitive interview and if the first has a positive outcome, you will be interviewed by an expert in UX / UI designer. The questions were varied, presenting case studies and asking me for suggestions for improvements to some interfaces of both apps and websites.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
why do you want to change?
why do you want to work in google?
told about your previous experience as UX
describe the differences in these two applications?
Does this interface meet all UX requirements?
It was difficult. A junior ui ux designer should be really prepared. A senior designer could pass the interview. For principal designers it may be easy to pass since they ask for at least 4 years of experience.
The interview process was long, and the first interview consisted of a portfolio share-out, where you talk at length about one or two case studies. Big emphasis on process and rationale behind design decisions, peppered with questions about specific situations.

Question 1
Describe a time where your design was in conflict with developer capability. How did you navigate that?
The process began with submitting my application through their career portal, Shortly after, I had an initial phone screening with an HR representative. This 30-minute conversation covered an introduction to the company and the role, a brief discussion about my background and experience, and my reasons for wanting to join TechInnovate. Next, I had a technical phone interview with one of their senior engineers, which involved discussing my past projects and solving some algorithmic problems. Following this, I was given a coding challenge that required building a small application using the technologies mentioned in the job posting. The final stage was an on-site interview that included multiple rounds: a deep dive into my technical skills, a system design interview, and a cultural fit assessment. The entire experience was rigorous but well-structured, providing a comprehensive evaluation of my technical and interpersonal skills.
