I applied online. I interviewed at Google in June 2022
Interview
I was contacted by a google recruiter. I got thru the initial screen. I then had the 4 technical interviews. I know I passed the coding interview. I then had three online video screens. One was with some guy in Mexico city in what was his bedroom. The other two were in an office somewhere. I am not a web developer however that was what I was asked. I told them I had been an infrastructure network engineer. I had absolutely no idea how to put a chat on a web page. I had audio quality concerns with the guy in Mexico City I could not hear him at all. I did say for the behavioral part that throughout my career I was usually the only woman on the team. That went right over their heads. I think they interpreted that like I needed special treatment. No. Its just that if you are the only woman you tend to get locked out of certain activities like the strip club invites or dinner at Hooters. Maybe its not like this in Silicon valley. I am over 50, disabled because of a bicycle accident. I don't think I look too disfigured however I don't move easily, As usual useless and next to nothing given to prepare. At least in school there are some limits as what you can be tested on. But a chat box on a web page. Nothing like that on my resume. I figure I got screened out because of my advanced age and threatening qualities to google. I have a problem where my neck spasms and it looks like I am clenching my jaw when its just muscle spasm. Because of that I have lost teeth which I don't think is obvious. Its not meth its muscle spasms and really good insurance like they have at google would go a long way for a disabled person who was injured in a bicycle accident 13 years ago and has just struggling for years. Also what could have informed the behavioral questions is how I have managed to run my life being seriously disabled. It really isn't easy. In fact it is quite difficult a lot of the time what with not being able to do stuff like undisabled people do. I could really use a $200,000 salary.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Google (Chicago, IL) in Mar 2026
Interview
Easy to navigate, great gidance and support from recruiters. Friendly leadership and positive attitude. Timelines and expectations were clear since the start with no surprises or delays. Recruiter was on top of my questions and always followed back after each interview with feedback and next steps.
The interviewers were friendly but focused, asking me to explain my thought process and approach to each problem. One of the interviews was more about cultural fit, where they asked how I handle teamwork, conflict, and align with Google's values.
