I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at H E B (Cypress, TX) in Feb 2016
Interview
I applied online. A couple days later I got a phone call from the customer service director. She asked me a few questions regarding if I have any discrepancies with my background, if I have any felonies or misdemeanors, why I wanted to work at HEB. She then scheduled to interview me 1:1 a couple days later. I initially applied for checker but I was informed that they do not directly hire cashiers. I would have to start as a bagger and that it's pretty easy to go up from there. I asked her questions about benefits. Unfortunately I am not eligible until I believe 6 months or a year into employment. After the 1:1 I did a meet and greet with the unit director who signed the paperwork to okay me for hire. A background check was then initiated which took a few days. I was contacted by the customer service director to fill out new employee paperwork online. My first day will be on Monday! I will list all interview questions that I was asked. I will not give out my responses but rather tips.
Additional interview questions:
A customer is in the express lane with over 15 items and has already loaded their items. The customer behind them has far less items. What would you do?
Tell me a time you went above and beyond for the customer.
What's a good reason to miss work? How many "sick" days do you think is appropriate?

Interview
The process is simple enough, its mostly a lot of STAR based questions. And the digital interview is basically the same as the in person. The questions most of the time will be identical, if not extremely similar.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Describe a time you were tasked to work with a team
I interviewed at a grocery store where the manager asked about my customer service skills and availability. The atmosphere was friendly, and I felt confident discussing my past teamwork experience.

Question 1
Name a time I had to mitigate an issue with a co worker.
It was easy and straightforward. I received a call back days later and went in for an interview. The manager was very engaged and felt like a conversation. I was called a week later to being my onboarding process.
