      I interviewed at H&R Block

      The process includes multiple calls with a third-party recruiter before you're passed off to H&R Block. At that point, you speak to an HR Director and a VP before finally gaining access to the hiring manager (a VP). Process includes a presentation / case study. I was asked several illegal interview questions in the process. That's all I needed to know about their culture. The initial search for this position failed. There are a lot of process-based issues here, and the current state of this search results principally from the desire for a purple squirrel of a TBD profile (let's just talk to dozens of people to figure out what we want!) and a lot of unnecessary gatekeepers "adding value." At other publicly traded companies, I've interviewed with CEOs in the second or third interview. H&R Block had me in five interviews before talking to the hiring manager (a VP) for my 6th interview. Not exactly promising when their pitch is "we're agile. and you're working on a startup." And never before have I seen seen EPS et al summarized in a position description. This was a curiosity that ended up being a red flag.
