The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Macy's (Peabody, MA) in Nov 2011
Interview
After arriving, I was escorted to a room with several computers and 5 other applicants/ new hires. Waited a brief time and the was ushered to another room that looked like a broom closet where the actual interview took place. The questions were very generic and the interviewer read the them from a sheet of paper while jotting down my answers. I was asked to describe a time when I received good customer service and describe a time when I gave great customer service. I was also asked why I wanted to work for Macy's. The breakdown of the company was given to me and I was shown a triangle with sales $$ being the most important thing to thing to the company followed by opening credit cards and lastly the appearance of the store. Towards the end of the interview the interviewer stated that there I would need to be flexible and provide coverage where needed and the pay rate was $8.00. I explained that I was confused because I there to interview for the Gift Registry position in Bridal and asked if that position was still available or would the pay rate be negotiable. The interviewer left the office (twice) and came back stating that position had been filled and the pay rate was non negotiable (had I known this, I wouldn't have bothered with the interview in the first place). I told the individual I would think about it, but the experience made me wonder about working for this company.
I did a walk-in job interview during the hiring job fair. I applied for the job on their computer kiosk. Then they put me in for an interview on the same day.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Macy's (Houston, TX) in Dec 2025
Interview
Answer first question starting with One recorded video and then followed up with multiple recorded responses to additional questions. Pretty simple and straightforward. Dress up on the top and wear whatever on the bottom.
Was an easy phone interview that only took a couple of minutes. I was only asked maybe 3 questions at most. Questions were sales experience, job history, and what I can work
