      Sales Support Associate Interview

      6 Mar 2013
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Macy's in Mar 2013

      Interview

I applied online and received a followup email a day later saying that they were interested in interviewing me and to set up a time to come in with their online calendar. About a week later I went in (I would recommend wearing dark colors and fashionable clothes, as they require black uniforms and like to know their associates have good style) for the interview. I showed up 15 minutes early and they took me in to interview right away, even though I was early. They interviewer was very friendly and chatty. He first asked the standard interview questions- "why Macy's?" and "describe a time when..."- and then went on to describe the job. He was very blunt in telling me that I would not be getting steady hours in this position since it is a flex position (though when I applied to the position it said it was full-time) and I would be getting between 4-40 hours a week. He did tell me that the people in this position are offered new openings in full and part-time positions first. An offer for the job was extended to be, but because this was not exactly what I was looking for, I asked for a day to think about it and he said that he would hold the position for me for 24 hours. I decided not to take the job, however he told me that I seemed like I would be a great fit for the company and he would keep my resume at the top of his pile and call me is something steady comes up in his department. Overall it was a very positive experience, even though I did not walk out with a job.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

All of the questions were asking to "describe a time". For example: "describe a time when you had to work in a team and someone was not pulling their weight. How did you handle the situation?" "Describe a time when you saw something unethical happening at work. How did you respond to the situation"
