The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Macy's (Sacramento, CA) in Apr 2010
Interview
I applied online and got an automated e-mail with a link to their website, asking me to schedule a time to be interviewed. I had a choice between 3 times, each a half hour apart, all on the same day. I was told to wait in a room with several other candidates, some of whom had been waiting for over half an hour. I thought at this point that it would be a group interview, but it wasn't. My interview was conducted while walking around the store. I was asked about previous experience, and about the state of the store as we moved through it. I thought it went very well and the manager talked about a position opening soon, and made it sound like she was offering me the position. However, a few days later, I got yet another automated e-mail from HR, saying they had no open positions for me.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
When cleaning up this area, where would you start? (messy clothing rack with items fallen on the floor)
Was interviewed for a seasonal position. Was told they have no seasonal positions, once they found out I was a college student. Made no sense to me quickly ended the interview.
I had one interview with the store manager and it lasted for about 45 minutes. The interview was all standard behavioral questions. I was offered the job on the spot.
The interview process was straightforward and fairly quick. It started with a phone interview from a recruiter or hiring representative who asked general questions about my background, availability, and interest in the role. The tone was professional but conversational, and the interviewer focused on making sure I could handle a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.
