      Software Program Manager, NPI Interview

      12 Jan 2026
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Jose, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at NVIDIA (San Jose, CA) in July 2025

      Interview

I applied directly through their website, having no referrals. Throughout the entire process, I never once spoke to or communicated with my recruiter. The initial contact was done through the recruitment coordinator who reached out via email asking for dates and times for the initial interview with the hiring manager. Most (70-80% to my estimation) interviews were conducted as casual conversations with the remaining ones structured as a typical interview with rapid fire questions that should be answered by the STAR method. All interviews were done remotely over MS Teams. I went through 7 interviews: 1 - Hiring manager [Sr. Manager] (30 minutes) 2 - Panel with 3 [2 Sr. TPMs, Sr. Manager from another team within org] (1 hour each) 3 - Hiring manager again (1 hour) 4 - Panel with 2 [both Sr. Directors] (1 hour each) If I was successful at the Sr. Director level, there would've been a final interview (or interviews?) with the VP of the organization, which is typical for Nvidia. So you can expect no less than 7 interviews for any position (not counting stage 3 as it was a repeat). For context, the position I applied was listed as IC3 with the potential for IC4 depending on skills and alignment. Between each stage was a month long wait in absolute silence. My recruiter never replied to any of my attempts at asking for an update. The entire process for me took 6 months, In the hypothetical that I had passed everything, the process would've actually been closer to 8 months seeing as how there was still another interview stage before a verbal offer was made and then a written one. Some interviewers were downright a pleasure to talk to while others were incredibly difficult, abrasive at times, and even somewhat delusional. For example, one of the Sr. Directors mentioned wanting to be laid off since it would've gave them the opportunity to reapply for the same or similar job to get a bump in pay. This same person has been at Nvidia for 20+ consecutive years by the way, never knowing a day what it's like to actually be laid off and the difficulties that comes with it. A few closing thoughts: - I was interviewing with multiple teams at Nvidia. I did not succeed with the other teams and was swiftly rejected. Not sure if it had any impact to this position as interviewers can talk across roles regarding their experience with the focus candidate. - The bad experience is due to lack of communication, lack of status updates, number of interviews (7+ for an IC3 is wild), and overall length of process. Only good thing about the interview process was having some well intentioned interviewers who seems like they want you to succeed. - Would I interview at Nvidia after all this if given the opportunity? Yes, money is money.
