      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Revolut

      Interview

The steps of the interview process was pretty clear, there is 6 or 7 steps, and you get the support of HR department. After your CV gets screened, you speak to HR person, if they think you may be a good fit they will put you through the CCAT test and if you pass that (90% pass rate) you get through to the problem solving interview (that’s 4 steps already). Both CCAT and Problem Solving interview have absolutely nothing to do with the role you’re applying for. Whilst I found both semi difficult I scored it on here as difficult as it’s definitely not an average, especially when you being asked questions completely not related to your field of expertise. I just don’t think people get a fair crack of the whip. You get 40min for a problem solving interview during which the expectation is that you (you get the guidance from HR prior to the call) - identify root cause, come up with the 4-5 solutions (!), you must ask questions for example “if there is any data available”, the interviewer will provide a data only if you ask, you have to then describe your solutions in detail, how they gonna work, how you gonna measure it, what will be the potential implications/drawbacks, at the end you need to summarise all of the solutions in a 3minute elevator style presentation. That’s a lot to come up with, on the problem case that you have zero experience in, add pressure and stress of the fact that you’re doing an interview and it’s a recipe for disaster. As you can tell, I didn’t pass that stage of the interview, on a one hand you can’t pass every interview you do in your career but it is extremely annoying that throughout the entire process up until this point none of the actual knowledge in your field have been tested. What is the point of applying for a role in a field X and not being interviewed on it ? Only after problem solving interview the next stage is technical skills interview, but again what is the point? I felt that to really provide a very comprehensive answer to the question you simply need more than 30min, as the question I got asked could easily be a project. When you run a project, you don’t solve it in 30min.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

      1. Stage very basic questions - salary expectations, your career so far 2. Problem solving - totally random question in the filed not even remotely connected to your area of expertise.

Spanish lady had no idea that I was booked in. Had no idea that there was a job available and seemed to be watching TV while interviewing. Strangest experience I've had.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Revolut in May 2026

      Interview

I was approached by a recruiter at Revolut on LinkedIn and applied via the website. Screening call with HR was promptly arranged. I got to chose the date/time via a site. Online assessments followed the interview. Skills interview with Manager arranged and that's where it went downhill. Asked to explain my CV then various case studies which were not particularly clear as the interviewer was reading from a script. No questions were asked of me.

      Question 1

Nothing. They asked me to explain my CV and did various case studies. The interviewer was reading from a script. She was utterly disinterested in me and even yawned during the interview (without apologising). Said she only hires 'smart people'. Said there was far too much volume of work. Talked about 'managing out' those that don't perform. Said they are struggling to hire (no wonder!). Huge reg flags.

      Interview

The process was hectic but feedback is really quick and engaging. The hiring agent is amazing and communication is always open and considerate. Quite a lengthy process and you must really prepare as some question are not related to your work rather how you think and process
