      Entry Level Desktop Interview

      17 July 2014
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Saddle Brook, NJ
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Robert Half (Saddle Brook, NJ) in June 2014

      Interview

I found this job listing on Indeed.com and emailed my resume directly to the recruiter as instructed. Three weeks later he called me, leaving a message saying he saw my resume online and would like to talk to me. ?. We talk on the phone a bit and he asks me what I'm looking for and asks me to send him my resume. I had already sent him my resume for this specific position but he needed it again for some reason. I sent it to him while on the phone but he said he wasn't getting it and he'd call me once he got it. The next day still no call so I call him back up and he said he finally got it and that he's been so busy, but I can come in tomorrow for an appointment at 10am. I go in the next day at 9:50am and enter a lobby with a dozen other people in suits filling out applications. At first the people behind the desk gave my application to someone else with the same first name because they didn't bother to check the ID or last name...So he had to start a new one and I ended up waiting even longer. They gave me the correct one and I finally get called into the recruiter's office at around 10:45am. Apparently the Entry Level Desktop position that I had initially applied for didn't even exist in the first place, and he went on to tell me that at this time he can't help me because I didn't have enough experience for basically anything and my Computer Science degree means nothing today. His advice was to do what he did since he came from an IT background - after graduating, go door to door and see if people need help fixing or setting up their computers and networks. I guess that didn't work out for him since he's a recruiter now. He seemed very discombobulated, and he told me straight up he saw about 500 people the previous week, and 60 people before me that day. Yes, at 10am he had already seen 60 people. Why do you take on so much if you can't handle it? Stay away from this place unless you like wasting your valuable time. They post fake job listings to get people in the office and just lead you on.
