The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Robert Half (Toronto, ON) in June 2010
Interview
No formal interview took place, it was a call from one of the recruiters working there asking me questions about what kind of positions I would be interested and what my qualifications were.
They asked if I were available for an interview the next day and I said no. I would also not be available until the next week, to which the recruiter replied, "but how are you going to do work for one of our clients when they give you a deadline??"
The recruiter did not sound like they knew what they were doing at all. They asked me questions that could have been easily answered by taking a quick glance at my resume (which was uploaded to their website).

Question 1
What are your qualifications for programming jobs?
I had a disappointing experience with a Robert Half recruiter regarding a $23/hr contract software development role that required relocation to an expensive city. During our conversation, he criticized remote workers as “lazy” and claimed hybrid essentially meant one day remote. The tone felt unprofessional and dismissive of candidate priorities. Recruiter conversations should focus on alignment, not personal opinions about work models.

Robert Half’s interview process typically starts with a recruiter screening call, followed by interviews with the client company. It’s generally straightforward, focused on experience, communication skills, and overall fit for the role.
