I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Ross Stores (Stockton, CA) in Oct 2013
Interview
I got called for an interview four months after applying and when I went into the store, the employees were helpful in getting the manager. I was early, so I went before my scheduled interview time and the manager at the time appreciated that.
It was a One-on-One Interview with Store Manager. Very simple and quick. Manager tried to get to know me before getting to the questions. The interview was not at all private and the manager was constantly interrupted by other employees which I thought was unprofessional.

Question 1
How would you handle an upset customer? Can you handle a fast-paced work environment? Would you be able to work the holidays?
Basic interview, they aren't super competitive when selecting employees. Just seem eager to work in a team setting and try not to toot your own horn too much and they'll hire you.
They did a group interview where you had to answer questions on customer service and experiences. The interview was simple and wasn’t long, they would call you after a few days to let you know if you got the job.
