I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Ross Stores (Peoria, AZ) in May 2013
Interview
The store manager usually interviews you, and they don't ask difficult questions. Just customer service questions and some dealing with theft and fraud. They really want to see if you can help customers and perform well on the sales floor. Be professional, friendly, well-spoken, and you should have no problem getting the job.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
What would you do if you knew an associate was stealing from the store?
Basic interview, they aren't super competitive when selecting employees. Just seem eager to work in a team setting and try not to toot your own horn too much and they'll hire you.
They did a group interview where you had to answer questions on customer service and experiences. The interview was simple and wasn’t long, they would call you after a few days to let you know if you got the job.
