Be advised: the interview process will not assess your core skills as a data scientist. This process will assess software engineering fundamentals, data engineering knowledge, and surface-level BI skills.
The post seeks "Experience with applied statistics and quantitative modeling (e.g. regression, survival analysis, segmentation, experimentation, and machine learning)", but -- despite presumed potential for applying these concepts at Shopify -- you won't be tested on any of this. If you specialize in applied statistics and ML, forget your expertise and instead study up on medium-level LeetCodes, SE interview norms, and data eng tooling.

Scheduling was very difficult and I had to spend a lot of time following up with the recruiter to move things along. They weren't able to tell me who my manager would be or provide any input on that person. In the end they simply never contacted me back after a final technical round. My impression is they didn't want to offer me a job but were unable to be direct about that-- it was such a bizarre process especially with an established organization.
