I applied in-person. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at State Farm (Seattle, WA) in Feb 2013
Interview
Went into local office, and asked for job. Local agent was extremely supportive and payed for the licensing. Interview process was two in office meetings. Normal questions about past, and where you want to be in the future.

Question 1
none. State Farm does want to promote new hires to agents after a few years, so I would bring up being an agent to your employer. The current agent gets a referral commission for new agents, so it is in both your best interests.
Interviewed with 2 people. Came back for a second interview with 1 person and was made an offer.
Process took about a little more than a week. Overall it was a pretty standard interview. Got a good understand of the job.
Pleasant and respectful. Very open to discussion about sales experience, particularly telephone based sales experience in my past. I believe this is due to the fact that so much new business comes from the telephone.

Question 1

Question and answer. Scenario-based situations. Experience with computer software programs, customer service, writing of property and casualty policies. Deposits and payment processing, underwriting experience, claims handling experience and general interview questions.
