I applied through university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at State Street (Boston, MA) in Apr 2012
Interview
The interview process consisted of a single phone interview with the hiring manager, lasted 30 minutes, and comprised of only behavioral questions. Overall the tone was very relaxed, and I felt that the manager was really trying to get to know me as an individual, rather than test any skills or ability. I received a call from the hiring manager's assistant within a few days with an offer.
I applied online. I interviewed at State Street (London, England)
Interview
General market awareness and macroeconomic knowledge questions like interest rates, alongside discussion of academic background, subject interests, relevant coursework, analytical skills, and how studies relate to financial markets and economic decision making.
I applied online. I interviewed at State Street in Jan 2026
Interview
The process was fairly smooth. I was first reached out through a phone call through HR, who asked simple screening questions, such as whether I was still interested in the opportunity, my availability, etc. After that initial call, it took around a week for them to invite me for an interview. The interview was laid back as it was conversational with no technical questions asked. They just want to get to know you--what you do in school, outside of school, hobbies, and interest. Two back to back interviews with senior managers with of the firm. Be sure to come prepared with a lot of questions about State Street and why this field/position.
