A childish man in charge of recruitment misses the initial interview date, and then calls late on the rearranged time. He asks very strange questions completely unrelated to the job or any previous experience. I was asked about my favourite colour and if I was a worm would I still want to work at UPS. I don’t know what to say to a question like this. Not sure if it was some sort of joke or actually a competency question but who even asks that? Especially in a more formal & professional setting. I replied that ‘if I was a worm, I would probably have other priorities than applying for sales roles’, to which he seemed disappointed and inadvertently hinted at the role/company potentially not being the best fit for me. I just feel like in an interview worms shouldn’t be mentioned because it is absolutely unrelated to anything. What even is the correct answer which would have progressed the application? Just a very strange experience altogether. Felt like a prank call but was organised on an official UPS email, with a valid contact number & had some pre-call correspondence following my interest in the ad.

Nachdem die Bewerbungsunterlagen geprüft wurden, musste ich ein zeitversetztes Videointerview aufnehmen. Dabei hatte man 3 Versuche und konnte den Besten Versuch verwenden. Insgesamt waren es 8 Fragen. Die Frage zur Gehaltsvorstellung musste man schriftlich beantworten. Die letzten beiden Fragen musste man auf Englisch beantworten. Der nächste Schritt war ein Telefoninterview mit einem Personaler. Es dauerte etwa 15 Minuten und verlief sehr freundlich. Es ging um die allgemeine Motivation, warum Sales, warum UPS und um die Bereitschaft umzuziehen. Zudem wurden alle Fragen zum Taineeprogramm beantwortet. Danach erfolgte die Einladung zu einem Zoom Call. Dieser erfolgte mit zwei Damen und verlief ebenfalls sehr freundlich. Es wurden keine „fiesen“ Fragen gestellt. Während des Gesprächs wurde ein Verkaufsgespräch simuliert und dazu Feedback gegeben. Insgesamt dauerte das Gespräch etwa 30-40 Minuten und hinterließ einen sehr guten Eindruck bei mir. Der letzte Schritt ist ein weiterer Zoom Call mit einer Vorgesetzten.
