      Seasonal Driver Helper Interview

      10 June 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Fort Wayne, IN
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at UPS (Fort Wayne, IN) in Nov 2014

      Interview

It was a group interview held at the UPS center in their break room. Dress code catered to warehouse safety since you do have to walk through the warehouse to get there- I wore thick slacks, sturdy sneakers, a henley, and a heavy zip-front hooded sweatshirt. Most people wore jeans and a nice looking shirt. There was some kind of weird scheduling snafu and the meeting got pushed earlier than originally intended; I ended up getting shut out of the room for half of the HR representative's talk. A different HR representative let me in to catch the tail end of it. After this, each of the interviewees (there were maybe eleven of us) went in with the HR representative for a one-on-one interview. I was very last and it was clear he was exhausted by this point; he apologized and explained that not only had the schedule been changed on him, but they'd scheduled too many people for this group so he'd had to rush the individual interviews and was not happy with the situation. He ended up spending more time talking about his issues with that than he did interviewing me, to be honest. Anyway, he finally did ask me what the fastest-paced job is that I'd ever worked (they really hammer home the point that this job is fast-paced), so I told him about two previous job experiences. I talk with my hands and apparently he noticed because he asked me if I know sign language. After I answered he went off on a tangent about being an expressive person and monitoring body language and stuff like that. Next, he asked if I had any questions for him, and I asked him what I'd missed from his talk. He gave me a quick history of UPS as a company and talked about why he's so passionate about the company. He apologized again for the scheduling mix-up and then told me I'd hear soon about whether I got the position or not. I'm not skipping over anything- those are really the only questions he asked me. Like I said, he seemed pretty frazzled by the time I sat down. However, this worked in my favor as my work history is kind of spotty and the less I have to talk about it, the better.

      Interview

They just asked my name, email address, and address. They did not ask anything about previous experiences or anything. It seemed like they just wanted to know how near/far you stay from the job's location,
