      GED, physically fit, Tattoos should be out of sight when in uniform and of reasonable taste, No hate group tattoos, no felonies. No interview needed. Recruiters will get you in once the ASVB is scored and they know what you are qualified for.

      I applied in-person. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at US Army in Sept 2023

      Interview

      Answer medical questions and any previous arrests. Also take a practice test to predict what you will score on ASVAB. Medical benefits and retirement pension is hard to beat. Able to retire after 20 years and immediately start collecting retirement along with any VA disability benefits. Could easily be upwards of $100k annual in retirement starting at 37 years old for the rest of your life just for breathing.

      The first step is seeing the recruiter, once all contract options have been decided you will sign and head to MEPS. Here you will choose a military occupation, learn about all of the legal consequences of joining, receive medical inspection, and swear into the military, often leaving for Basic Training the same day you swear in.
