      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Unilever (Mumbai) in Dec 2022

      Interview

I have interviewed twice on 2 separate occasions - December 2022 and October 2021. October 2021. The recruiter and the hiring manager were nice people the first time. Dec 2022 - Second time the recruiter was also the manager but was junior to me in terms of years of experience. She was also nice and friendly, very humble. Both the roles were part of their gig opportunity offering under their Open2U project where they hire gig workers. The idea is nice but there is a hidden obsession of hiring employees from elite institutes in India. They dont tell you this upfront. Sadly, this is a problem only with Indian firms all over India. It is shameful to see that Unilever does this even for their gig opportunities as well. One day i sat and filtered all the unilever profiles on LinkedIn (both permanent and gig workers) and saw this pattern of hiring people only from elite colleges. I understood that I did an executive course from an elite IIM in India and that's how they gave me a chance for an interview but sadly since my fulltime mba degree was not from an elite institute, they did not give me a chance and they wont give anybody else a chance as well if you are not from an elite institute even though the said people from such institutes may be pathetic in their knowledge. Still, they will hire them over normal people from average colleges. Although, the first role was a bit senior for me and I may not have all the experience, the second one was a pretty average role. It's a pathetic and very very sad state of corporate firms in India (Indian/MNCs with Indian branches) especially consulting firms and fmcg firms. This is 2023 and Indian corporate firms/MNCs with Indian branches have a long long way to go. This discrimination must stop. It can only be addressed if it comes from the top. Better to migrate to first world countries where they dont do such things.
