I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at UnitedHealth Group (Southfield, MI) in Oct 2009
Interview
Had communicated over period of time to company letting them know my interest. There was finally an opening and the local VP agreed to talk to me. We had a cordial and informal interview. She shared that I was perhaps over-qualifed for the position, despite the fact that I expressed significant interest. She appeared professional and encouraging, but it seemed apparent when I left that I would not receive an offer for an additional interview.
I interviewed at UnitedHealth Group (New York, NY)
Interview
Started with video and included multiple levels as well as a team panel interview. Overall very thorough and provided an opportunity to see the team dynamics and get a feel for the day to day workflows.

Question 1
Tell me about a time you had to handle a tough employee allegation?
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at UnitedHealth Group (Eden Prairie, MN) in June 2013
Interview
I was contacted my an Internal UnitedHealth Group recruiter regarding a position in a new internal "Strategic Initiatives Group (SIG)", which was effectively an internal consulting group. She had my profile and a copy of my application from a job I had applied for a few years earlier, and thought that I would be a good match for the position. We scheduled a phone interview, which lasted for 45 minutes and went very well. She invited me to formally apply for the job and sent me a link to their application system. I spent about 3 hours inputting my updated profile and tweaking my resume. A few weeks later they invited me to 'self identify', which is the normal last step in an online application where optional ethnic/racial info is added to the application. Between being contacted by one of UHG's own internal head-hunters and an excellent initial phone interview, I was now expecting to receive an invite for an onsite interview. A week later my online application status was updated to "no longer under consideration". No contact from the recruiter. No phone call. No email. No explanation. In hindsight it would appear that either the UHG recruiter was clueless as to what the hiring manager was looking for, or the recruiter knew I didn't meet the requirements and was just inconsiderately having me apply to pad her own recruitment stats. Either way, it was a complete waste of my time. What a bunch clueless, inconsiderate, time wasting jerks.
