I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Unum (Portland, ME) in July 2018
Interview
I applied through a major job board, and shortly thereafter, received a call from an in-house recruiter who was personable and asked engaging questions. A follow-up email invited me to their Portland location where I was interviewed by two friendly managers who asked, and answered, questions freely. After speaking with the original recruiter by phone regarding the positive result of my face-to-face interview, an email arrived with an official offer pending the results of a background check, which was quickly completed and then proceeded by a confirmation of my start date.
The experience was seamless, with every interaction being professional and cordial. In fact, during the background check phase, I was given the chance to rectify a discrepancy of my own doing. The HR department was very patient. I can't imagine a more efficient and thorough process then the one I experienced.

Tell me about a time you handled a situation that you did not agree with
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Unum (Raleigh, NC) in Jan 2022
Interview
The recruiters were nice and they went by the star method. They forward you to the hiring manager for a longer process, still star method. If you aren't selected you aren't considered for anything else based on the managers you spoke to. Sometimes if the hiring manage has bias views or opinions of others that can hurt you. They should always at least let another set of managers interview, and give some sort of feedback on how you did or didn't do. A lot of work with no end results. Looks like a great company who brags on diversity and culture, but I think they only want a younger crowd. If you are mid 40's forget it!
