I applied in-person. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at VMware (San Jose, San Jose) in Dec 2016
Interview
The process was quite long for an internship process but it's about the same for any FTE position in Costa Rica:
1. Apply online
2. Phone Interview
3. Case
4. Two Screening Interviews (one soft skills and one technical skills)
5. Interview with hiring manager
6. Offer
7. Background Check
8. Hire

Question 1
Compute the missing amounts and show the balance sheet
What transactions might explain the:
o Change in total assets between years 1 and 2?
o The change in retained earnings between years 2 and 3?
o The change in total liabilities plus owners’ equity between years 3 and 4?
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at VMware (Palo Alto, CA) in May 2022
Interview
The process was very accommodating - the hiring manager accelerated the interviews with the whole team based on my timeline with a competing company. They were able to align the offer with the timing of the competing offer.

Question 1
What are some of the key financial metrics to focus on in a SaaS-focused business?
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at VMware (New York, NY) in June 2016
Interview
Applied to an open position online and was contacted approximately two days later by a recruiter. Basic phone screen questions: tell me about your background, why do you want to leave your current company, and why VMware?
I was set up with the hiring manager and spoke over the phone. Several days later I was asked to skype with a director and another analyst that would have been my peer. A couple days after that a different recruiter reached out and set up a final interview via Skype with the hiring manager.

Question 1
As other people have mentioned there is a lot of resume specific questions. I specifically was asked about the systems I had experience with (SAP and Hyperion).
The questions outside of those based off your resume are just typical behavioral interview questions. Nothing that was out of left field as long as you practiced those types of questions and have some examples in mind.
