I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Walmart (West Melbourne, FL) in July 2012
Interview
I applied online. I got a call less than a week later from the HR Department. They asked me a few questions & scheduled an interview with me, in person. They told me to dress professionally. I did. When I showed up for my interview there were quite a few people there to interview as well, but all interviews were individual, not group. I was interviewed by the two grocery-area Zone Managers. They were very friendly and made me feel comfortable during the interview. I left that day, and got a call back the next day to interview with the Assistant Manager over grocery. I scheduled that interview. She literally looked at my paper, circled the same grades that the Zone Managers gave me (all Satisfactory & above). Then, she proceeded to just talk with me for about twenty minutes - she asked me what I was going to school for, and why I was applying at this store, what I liked to do in my free time, and general things like that. Then, she told me to go do my drug test and that they'd run a background check and call me. Less than a week later, I was given a date to begin my training.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What experience do you have in working with diverse groups of people?
Phone interview and then asked to come in for in person interview. The hiring manager asked typical interview questions. Why do you want to work here? And asked bout scheduling availability,
There was a lot of questions but overall it went pretty decent. They were your standard interview questions. I am happy with the outcome but maybe I could do better next time.
Solid and very well informative process. It was straightforward and well put together. I really enjoyed the people that I interacted with and ultimately chose another route due to time constraints.
