Over a month after applying, I got a prescreening interview with a recruiter. Basic questions were asked, such as background, relocation, and salary requirements. She knew the job position pretty well and answered most of my questions. Interview overall went well, but it got pretty bumpy after they put the position on hold, reopened it, then changed the job title, and then referred me to more junior roles, claiming they were a better fit.
The next recruiter didn’t handle the process professionally, and bailed on our call.
I don’t recommend wasting your time with Wayfair. The job has been open for 4 months. Their hiring expectations are probably a bit too unrealistic and ambitious, salaries are low, and they don’t exercise professionalism in their recruiting.
My advice to Wayfair is to not waste your time looking for the perfect candidate, because they likely don’t exist. Instead, be more flexible in finding people who have the leadership qualities that you’re looking for, and look for someone who can grow into the role. Dreaming up the perfect candidate is a very poor approach, and it will inevitably lead to an endless, exhausting search.
