      Summer Internship (Editorial/Acquisitions) Interview

      20 June 2012
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Indianapolis, IN
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Wiley (Indianapolis, IN) in May 2012

      Interview

After applying online for a variety of summer internships with Wiley, an HR rep called me to set up an interview for a position in the editorial and acquisitions departments. When I arrived, I filled out an employment record in the lobby before speaking with members of both departments (one from each). Both people I spoke with were friendly and engaging, and the questions they asked me seemed very fair (what kind of experience in publishing did I have? what was I looking for in this internship? what kind of technical/computer skills did I have? etc.). I thought I was doing pretty well until the acquisitions rep asked me about my web design skills, which I currently don't have. I was a little thrown because I wasn't quite sure how such skills fit into the description of the intern's responsibilities, but other than that, everything seemed pretty positive. I called a little more than a week later and found out from an HR rep that the position had been given to someone with more experience.
