      Enterprise Architect Interview

      20 Jan 2012
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Pleasanton, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Workday (Pleasanton, CA) in Dec 2011

      Interview

First contacted by Workday recruiter who was a contractor for Workday. The position was Enterprise Architect which is a pre-sales role on the technology side instead of the functional side. Had one phone interview with the recruiter and three on-site interviews with different Workday employees. The first interview was with the hiring manager, the second interview was with two sales managers and one sales director, and the third interview was with the director of pre-sales. Each interview was at Workday HQ in Pleasanton, CA and all interviews except one were done in conference rooms on the first floor. All interviews were slightly late in starting even one that was conducted during the off-hours at the end of the day. Interviews were focused on finding the right fit for the company, highly stressed culture and work-hard/play-hard mentality. Each interview was conducted differently although all professionally. Was impressed by the technology, the people, and the culture. Seemed as though Workday hired sharp people who were passionate about technology and their company. Allowed the opportunity to ask questions through the interview process and not just interview the candidate. Got the impression that the team was growing quite significantly, was pushing toward IPO in the near future, and they were interviewing quite a few candidates. Sadly, was disappointed by the unprofessional conclusion to the interviewing process. After not hearing any response or follow-up from the recruiter or hiring manager, reached out to both for an update on the hiring process. At the very least, to get feedback on improvements for the future. Received no communication, even after following up after hearing nothing back. Understandable for going through one interview, unacceptable for interviewing three times in which this was apparently one of the last interviews before a decision was to be made on a final candidate.

      Interview

Three rounds of technical and non-technical interviews. Colleagues, peers and management all have to be part of interview process. There was a need to research on trends and technology for HR and Finance. The entire process was well defined and the interview questions was a good challenge. Very fun to be part of.
