      I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Yelp (San Francisco, CA) in May 2010

      I was trying to gauge how valuable my IT skills were at that point in my career so I decided to apply around for a new IT position and I came upon the Desktop Support Specialist position at Yelp on Craigslist. I applied online and got scheduled for a phone interview two weeks later. I spoke with the hiring manager and basically described my current duties and responsibilities. I was invited for an onsite interview a week later. I interviewed with about two members of the IT team and the hiring manager. One of the team members was in Arizona and the interview was conducted via Skype. It wasn't a difficult interview. I just recounted all the things I had mentioned on the phone interview. The hiring manager was excited to use my skills to help him deploy the Casper Suite. I had a good feeling about the experience. Within a week, I received an automated rejection notice from Yelp via Jobvite. After deliberating with a friend who works at Yelp, she mentioned that a lot of Yelp's hires come from in house referrals. If she had not been on maternity leave, I might have improved my chances if I notified them of my relationship with her.
